The 10 Best Premier League Players of the 2022 Season

Numerous football megastars call the Premier League home, and this number is growing as the game's financial rewards attract more of the best players in the world. Real Madrid and Barcelona used to be the talk of the town, but nowadays, it seems like players spend their prime years playing in the English top division.

The finest of the best, though, is who? There is no conclusive consensus on the best Premier League players, and there will never be one. We compiled a list of the top Premier League players in every position based on various criteria. While attempting to avoid being persuaded by momentary dips and bursts of form, we have considered past performances and the overall quality of this season's performances.

Who is the Premier League's best player? Most likely, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham supporters would nominate their own player for the accolade. Some of the athletes on this list have been disappointed thus far in 2021/22. However, it should keep its place among the best.

Erling Haaland is the clear choice to challenge the big guys, who stay at the top of the list with a fresh transfer in the summer of 2022. Mohamed Salah has consistently performed admirably for Liverpool, Harry Kane has done the same for Tottenham, and Cristiano Ronaldo won't give up (even if he probably would have preferred to continue his career elsewhere).

The 10 Best Premier League Players of the 2022 Season

10. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

Yes, we fully comprehend that mixing defenders and attacker into one list is an artificial decision-making process, but Van Dijk must secure a spot on this list. The Reds' backline is not in perfect shape, but we all know how invincible Van Dijk can be when he's in top form. He is the model of a contemporary defense, equally at ease rolling with the ball forward as he is standing back and stopping onslaughts.

9. Son Heung-min (Tottenham)

Son feels utterly unappreciated on the international scene. He has been a steady, growing force for the Spurs, but he seldom draws much notice away from the field. Despite a rough start to the season, he is still a fantastic footballer with a smile that makes you remember why people play the game in the first place. Son adores it.

8. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Alexander-Arnold, a right-back innovator, frequently basks in Gary Neville's admiration, much to the detriment of the former Manchester United analyst. Neville adores TAA and regards the young man from Liverpool as superior to himself. Whether he crosses the ball into the box, shoots the ball into the goal, or drills the ball into defensive weak spots, Alexander-technique Arnold's is flawless. It will be intriguing to follow his continued growth.

7. Joao Cancelo (Manchester City)

Joao Cancelo considered the alternate Premier League player of the season for 2021–2022, raised the bar for himself. He is a world-class fullback, and to say otherwise would be a grave understatement. He is much more than a right or left-back. He'd be a quarterback if we lived on the other side of the Atlantic. Cancelo is in command at the back, but his rambling forays forward are often fruitful. Give him any space near the final third of the field, and he'll see, pick, and play the right pass. A genuinely extraordinary talent!

6. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)

Fernandes would be absent if this list was based on 2021/22, but we all know how good he can be for long stretches of the season. Was he disturbed by Ronaldo's presence? Have others not taken advantage of his supply of ammunition? That is not for us to say. We know that Bruno is the beating heart of any Manchester United team in form. A threat from long range, in the box, scoring goals, creating goals, set-pieces, the lot.

5. Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)

In previous years, Ronaldo would have unquestionably topped this list. Nonetheless, it's a fantastic variation. The top football player is nearing the end of his career, final form, and evolution. He knows where to look for the net. He is a threat both in the air and on the ground. This article is not about whether he fits in with Manchester United's squad or his style of play. Few people you'd instead have pulled on your shirt as a solo player.

4. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Salah can break down any defense with his piercing rushes. He has given a few top fullbacks nightmares with his acceleration and abrupt changes in pace and direction, and his output of goals and assists in 2021–2022 is unrivaled. The top four on this ranking seem interchangeable, but Salah is penalized for being too picky and loses one or two points. Although it would be unfair to call his style "one-dimensional," he might not have the same variety of skills as those in the positions above him. He might be the player with the most significant impact, though.

3. Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Harry Kane is still one of the top-rated soccer players in the Premier League and the entire world. You are aware of our accuracy. The Spurs player has scored an incredible 185 goals in 285 Premier League contests and still has a strong chance of surpassing Alan Shearer's legendary 260 total. Although he didn't play well last year, it was likely his only poor run of form since he started. Behind the frontline, Kane continues to be a deadly talisman with exceptional playmaking abilities.

2. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Mountain or man? It can be challenging to tell. Haaland is a 6'4" physical force who will one day be a legendary Premier League player. He has adapted to the Premier League and given his fondness for Manchester City, he may be well-positioned for the next ten years or more in the North West. Haaland moves remarkably for a man of his size, and his strength is almost unmatched. Haaland might move much higher on this list once he starts going to the absolute top.

1. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

Salah is a fantastic, powerful, direct runner with incredible speed who uses it all to significant effect. However, we've chosen De Bruyne as our No. 1 due to his wide range of abilities. De Bruyne can sit deeper, roam forward, fill in much higher up the pitch, drift wide, or stay central. His passing range is perplexing to both players and fans. Salah's point of view is 20:20. His long-distance drives are lethal. His crossing is among the best in Premier League history.

Then there's his physicality, often overlooked in De Bruyne's game. He's powerful and quick. De Bruyne is the complete midfielder. Despite an injury-plagued season, KDB remains our Premier League top dog.
